Face to Face

I haven’t been here for very long but I bet you’re curious about me, or you wouldn’t be here otherwise. It all started five months ago when I heard of Sailor Moon. I have to admit, I wasn’t a die-hard fan from the beginning, but it didn’t take long for me to become one. I started taping every episode so I could re-watch them whenever I felt like it. Since I’d long ago taped every episode they showed (only the first 36) I just watched my tapes as soon as I came home.

It soon became my dream to live in Tokyo but not just any Tokyo, Serena’s Tokyo where the Sailor Scouts live. What’s harmful about a wish? I took lessons in martial arts, dancing, riding, skating, and anything else a Sailor Scout needed to know. I guess, deep down, I wanted to be a Sailor too.

You might not believe my theory but if you think really hard, there WAS a sinister reason why Sailor Moon went off the air. If you compare Sailor Moon’s world and our world, there are a few little warnings you get after watching the episodes. Our world is just like what Queen Beryl wanted the universe to be: filled with hatred, anger, and anything that the Negaverse thrives on. I started to think that maybe, just maybe, the past WAS on the Moon and Queen Beryl won, at least here; that would certainly explain the similarities between here and there.

Once I gave that thought real scrutiny, strange things started happening. One example is that Sailor Moon suddenly was blocked on my TV and mine alone. Then my Sailor Moon tapes disappeared. With all of the evidence supporting me, this only made me think harder about it.

One night as I walked through the park, I heard a sound ahead of me. Stopping, I hid behind the trees and bushes and slowly crept forward.

Two figures were there, illuminated by the moonlight. Their shadows looked vaguely familiar…

"Where is the brat? Beryl said she’d be here by now."

"Quiet Jedite! If she’s here, she’s probably heard you yelling already and left!"

"Oh, I see Malachite, let me get this straight. You think she actually believes what she’s seen? Do you really think anybody will ever figure it out? You’re just as gullible as Queen Serenity was!"

You can imagine what I thought when I heard THAT spoken. The names alone would’ve worried anybody familiar with Sailor Moon, but the voices were what really scared me. When my eyes adjusted to the light, I got one real good look at the speakers. Malachite and Jedite were waiting right in front of me.

I turned around and walked, very quietly, back to the path in the park. When I looked behind me, just to check, Malachite turned and looked right at me. I froze. Malachite smiled, a small evil smile, and raised his hands, preparing something, I don’t know what.

Jedite was scanning the trees when he noticed the movement. Looking directly at me also, I cursed my instinct to the Negaverse for making me turn around. Jedite jumped into the air, flying, and prepared to attack with Malachite.

Cursing the Negaverse with all my heart, I ran. I’m not a bad runner, but when you also have to dodge bolts of energy, it gets pretty complicated. Running through trees and bushes, never once klutzing out like Serena, I ran out of the park, and almost right into a trap.

If I had kept on running, I would’ve run into Zoisite’s shield, and Nephrite. I stopped running when I saw them, moments before they saw me. Turning around, I wondered what happened if I got caught. When I saw a look of triumph on Malachite’s face, I stopped wanting to know.

Taking a quick survey of the area around me I saw one over-looked escape route. The fact that it only would be considered an escape route by someone like me probably protected it from their meddling. Thorns, brush and old rose vines crept close to the floor and also rose high to the sky. Shouldn’t be to hard jump over. I thought. Taking care to make my face show utter dismay, I inwardly laughed at their one big mistake.

As the circle of fiends closed in on me, I made my escape. Rage twisted their features as they realized that they would have to pursue on foot. (they can’t fly through trees) Since Jadeite didn’t know where the trees would end, he couldn’t teleport and wait for me to emerge. If Jedite couldn’t teleport, none of them could. Running past them with a burst of energy they would love to get their hands on, I made it into the trees right before a bolt of black energy hit where I would’ve been.

I could tell the Generals were not used to pursuing humans on foot, they usually flew. I could hear one or two of them gasping for breath after the first few minutes of the punishing run. Careful not to stumble, I saw the edge of the clearing up ahead.

Breaking through the trees, I stopped and heard them cursing the trees, me, and me again. Looking around, (I haven’t gotten this far to be trapped again) I saw a portal ahead of me. Considering that I was in a rush, not to mention being hunted by any Moonie’s worst nightmare, I took a real close look at the portal.

Not at all that dissimilar from Jadeite’s portal back to the Negaverse, it only made me suspicious. Black energy outlined the portal, swirling, expanding, evaporating, and looking like mist. Tendrils of it came out from the portal, seeking. When Zoisite, Nephrite, Malachite, and Jadeite arrived they all stopped and slowly backed away, disbelief apparent on their faces. After a moment, they seemed to snap out of it, and continue their search for me but I was gone, or so it seemed. During their moment of confusion, I hid behind the portal, careful not to enter it. After a few minutes, I ran straight ahead, jumping over tree limbs, dodging the ones I couldn’t jump, and running through the woods.

I kept on running for who knows how long, stopping periodically to listen for sounds not made by me. After a while, I noticed a queer silence. Stopping, I looked around, trying to recognize my surroundings.

I stood at the edge of a clearing. The trees thinned out only a few feet ahead and the bushes gave way to short grass. In the middle of the clearing I saw something I couldn’t quiet make out. It looked like it was constantly shifting, moving, and disappearing. My attention was so taken up by this odd object that I didn’t hear their approach.

Flying in the sky was Jadeite, Malachite, and Zoisite. Nephrite wasn’t anywhere but that wasn’t surprising since Nephrite, according to Sailor Moon, wasn’t around a lot. Acting on a hunch, I ran right into the object in the clearing. I could hear behind me shouts and cries of dismay echoing through wherever I was.

When I woke up, I was in a hospital. Siting up, I immediately demanded to be released. I was given my personal items (keys, money, ID, etc.) and allowed to go. I headed to my apartment before I realized that something was wrong, dreadfully wrong.

Blending into the crowd, I stopped on a corner and looked around. It can’t be! I thought to myself What am I doing here? How did I get here? Unless that was a portal, how did I get into Serena’s world? How is it possible? My self-questioning was interrupted by a familiar sound.

"I am Sailor Moon! I will right wrongs! And triumph over Evil, and that means You!" "It’s not your crystal I’m after Sailor Moon. This doesn’t concern you." "Huh?" "So long Sailor Moon!" After positioning myself just right, I got a quick glimpse of Sailor Moon’s opponent. Malachite! What’s he doing here? Malachite disappeared after that and everyone seemed happy, except the Sailor Scouts and me. I know Malachite too well to be happy about his sudden disappearance.

Walking away, I head in the direction of my apartment flat. "Where do you think you’re going Brat?"

Turning around, I see the one thing I don’t ever want to see again; Malachite up close and in person. His eyes flashed over, he was MAD.

"What do you mean? You must’ve mistaken me for someone else. I don’t know you." (I was slowly backing away as I said this) "Oh no, I remember you very clearly. You just come with me…" "She’s not going anywhere creep." "Yeah, keep away." "I’m Sailor Moon, sworn to protect the innocent and right wrongs to triumph over evil. I’m Sailor Moon!" "As I said before, keep out of this Sailor Brats! This isn’t your business." " That’s it! What’s going on here?? Why ISN’T this our business??" "What do you mean Sailor Moon?" "That’s the second time he’s told us this isn’t our business and I want to know WHY!"

"If you’ll excuse me for butting in, but can I just leave?" I asked in a very quiet voice. "Sure you can leave, any time you want because there’s only one place for you to go, with me!" "Actually, I was hoping to go to my apartment, maybe get something to eat. I don’t WANT to go with you! Leave me ALONE CREEP!" At that point I was REALLY mad at Malachite. Why can’t he just leave me ALONE? Since I knew Malachite could read thoughts directed at him, I thought at him, Scram Nega-creep! If you try anything- ANYTHING AT ALL- I’m personally gonna tear the Negaverse apart, piece by piece.

Startled, he looked at me in shock, disbelief flashing across his face. I don’t believe it! This child really knows all about the Negaverse. Hmmm, I wonder if she knows who the Sailor Scouts really are? No hurt in finding out. "Sure, I’ll leave you alone, forever, on one condition." "Huh? What’s he talking about?"

Looking directly at me, Sailor Mars asked me "Do you know who he is?" I stared blankly at her. "Don’t deal with Nega-trash, they cheat!" Who is this girl? Sailor Mars thought I’m getting strange vibes from her. I wonder if she’s from the Negaverse? If she is from the Negaverse though, why would Malachite try to convince her to back with him? It doesn’t make sense!

"Umm, I’ll be going, I seem to have brought up something. Bye now!" I turned around and started to walk away. "Wait! You can’t leave! He’ll just come after you where we can’t help you." Turning back around, I stood rock still for a second, thinking quickly. Should I stay? I know I can handle any HUMAN on my own but do I need their help with Malachite? "Beat it buster!" I yelled at Malachite. I don’t really need any prying people but I know I can’t permanently get rid of Malachite on my own, or can I?

"Moon Tiara Magic!"

"Jupiter Thunder Crash!"

"Mars Fire Ignite!"

"Mercury Bubbles Blast!"

"Venus Crescent Beam Smash!"

"You shouldn’t have gotten involved, Sailor Scouts! You’ll regret this!" Erecting a shield to save himself, Malachite disappeared into a black void.

"Are you OK?"

"I’m fine." I hastily replied.

"Maybe if you tell us why he was after you we can help you. Normally, he doesn’t go through this much trouble on the behalf of a normal human."

"I can handle it by myself, thank you."

"If you could handle it by yourself, WE wouldn’t be here!"

"Thanks for helping, but I can handle it by myself; you just sped things up."

"I don’t think you were handling that all to well."

"I can take care of myself."

"Doesn’t look like it."

"Thanks for helping, I hope it wasn’t too much trouble. I really have to get home soon or my pet’s gonna be really worried. Thanks again!" Turning around quickly, I ran to my apartment flat. When I arrived, I opened the door and rushed in.

"Too bad I don’t have a real pet, I sure wouldn’t mind the company. Oh well, now that I’m home, time for food. Hmmm, I wonder if I can get take-out from…SHOOT! I forgot!" I lightly slapped myself my forehead. "I’m not in America anymore!"
